It's Raining in Texas...and a FUN Cake Ball Truffle Giveaway!

It's raining in Texas...not the brief sprinkles that we've had a handful of times the past few months, but the real deal: showers, thunder, and lightning!! We're in desperate need of rain after months of near-drought conditions, so this was exactly what we've been hoping for in Central Texas: it rained off and on yesterday, but it's been raining pretty much constantly since last night. I even had to dig up my favorite red umbrella when I went out for a grocery run earlier. Between the rain and our upcoming SNL weekend in New York in a few days, I'm in a fantastic mood. So, what better time to share my latest giveaway with you?!?!?

I’ve got three words to describe today's giveaway: cake ball truffles! Imagine a gorgeous hand-decorated truffle…but inside is moist, flavorful cake instead of the typical ganache. Cake ball truffles truly ARE the best of both worlds if you’ve got a sweet tooth (…or two)! They’re like the love child of truffles, cake, and icing. I first tasted cake balls at a family holiday party about four years ago, and they’ve been popular in Texas ever since. Word has traveled around the country since then…all the way to New Jersey. Sweet Jane Lynn is a gourmet food company that specializes in gourmet cake ball truffles that are both delicious and beautifully decorated. Sweet Jane Lynn started a little over a year ago by two sisters who share a love of baking.

I recently spoke with Sweet Jane Lynn's Angelica Fattal on the phone to find out more about her company. She had just graduated from college last year, and she and twin sister Bianca began making cake ball truffles in their spare time while job hunting. The cake ball truffles were so amazingly delicious that friends and family asked them to make them for their parties and celebrations. The sisters started generating a lot of buzz via word of mouth, so they started making cake ball truffles to sell on a larger scale. Eventually, corporate clients in New York began contacting her about her yummy confections.

Before they knew it, Angelica and Bianca had started their own gourmet food business! In the past year, the company has grown to become quite successful. Sweet Jane Lynn's cake ball truffles are now available online for shipment all across the U.S. She recently sent me a twelve-item sampler of her cake balls to try, and they are AMAZING! They’re about the size of a golf ball, and the flavors go WAY beyond plain vanilla and chocolate! Take a look at these gorgeous cake ball truffles and tell me you don't just want to pluck one off the computer screen and take a bite!

My assortment from left to right, row by row is as follows:
  • Oatmeal Raisin
  • Pink Lemonade
  • Italian Creme
  • Buttermilk White
  • Chocolate Mint
  • Sweet 'n Salty
  • Quadruple Chocolate
  • Carrot Cake
  • Old Fashioned Caramel
  • Red Velvet
  • Key Lime
  • Blueberry Pancake
I was very impressed when the box arrived. Not only was the package adorable, but Angelica took great care to pack my truffles to ensure they arrived in pristine condition. It was still 90+ here in San Antonio when my truffles arrived, so she included a cold pack to ensure that nothing melted between here and New Jersey.

These babies arrived just as I was getting over my stomach plague a few weeks ago, so these cake ball truffles were quite literally the first solid food that I ate after being ill for three straight days. As you can see, I wasted no time biting into the red velvet cake ball truffle right away!

I was super impressed with the quality of Sweet Jane Lynn's cake ball truffles…the flavor of the truffles were fantastic, and you can tell they use quality ingredients. The cake and icing that they use is made from scratch, and every truffle is decorated by hand. They're as pretty to look at as they are to eat. I enjoyed all of the flavors I tried, but my two favorites were the Italian Cream Cake and the Red Velvet. BTW...Angelica shared with me that the Italian Creme is her favorite as well...
