#SundaySupper Dishes In 5 Ingredients or Less...Featuring White Chocolate-Raspberry Puff Pastry Doughnuts

These White Chocolate-Raspberry Puff Pastry Doughnuts
are super-simple to whip up...and delish!
This week's #SundaySupper theme is Dishes In 5 Ingredients or Less. The idea behind this theme is that recipes don't have to be complicated or feature a mile-long list of ingredients to be delicious! Our hostess this week is Amber from the blog Mama's Blissful Bites, so make sure to go by and tell her hello! It didn't take me long to decide what to make for today's theme...because I've had today's recipe on my to-make list for ages. When I made super-easy PB&J Puff Pastry Doughnuts last Spring, I made a mental note to try a white chocolate-raspberry version next. Now was the perfect time to pull that idea from my memory banks and bring it to life! If you've never cooked with frozen puff pastry before, trust me...it will change your life!

I always have a box in my freezer, because it makes it simple to whip up a quick appetizer or tasty dessert in no time flat. All you need to pull this yummy treat together are five simple ingredients. What you end up with is flaky pastry filled with raspberries, white chocolate-flavored cream cheese, and chunks of melted white chocolate. Do I have your attention yet?!?!? Good! Now let me show you how simple it is to whip up these doughnuts as a special treat for someone special!

White Chocolate-Raspberry Puff Pastry Doughnuts
adapted from Pepperidge Farm

Step 1: Preheat oven to 400. Combine 4 ounces of Philly White Chocolate Indulgence cream cheese and 1/2 cup white chocolate broken into bite-sized pieces in a small bowl. I used Ghirardelli white chocolate bar and broke it up by hand. Stir well to combine. Remove half a package of frozen Pepperidge Farm puff pastry from the box and let it thaw on the counter for 30 minutes. Dust a large work surface with flour and unwrap the dough. Unwrap and carefully roll out to a 12-inch square.

Step 2:  Use a round cookie cutter to cut 12 circles from the dough. Place six of the rounds on a large cookie sheet lined with parchment or a Silpat. Top with 1 tbs. of the white chocolate filling and three fresh raspberries. Top with the remaining six rounds of puff pastry and crimp the edges with a fork. Brush with water and sprinkle with sugar...I had a vanilla-bean flavored sugar that I used, which added flavor and pretty flecks of vanilla.

Step 3: Bake the doughnuts for 20 minutes, turning the pan around halfway through for even baking. Remove from oven and let the doughnuts cool for 3o minutes before eating. The filling is lava-hot, so you will really burn your tongue if you try to eat them sooner. Trust me on this...be patient. You'll be rewarded for your restraint with flavorful doughnuts that don't sear your tastebuds off!

These doughnuts are fantastic...especially for being so simple to whip up! The puff pastry is crispy, and the sugar crust gives an extra bit of crunch. The white chocolate cream cheese and melted bits of white chocolate are luscious, and the raspberries are tart bursts of flavor. All together, it's a perfect flavor combination. The basic recipe is very flexible...use different flavors of chocolate, and sub in your favorite fruit. Have fun...and get ready for some compliments. How easy these doughnuts are to make will be our little secret!
