I was recently invited to take part in the Stirrings first annual Stir It Up Holiday Blogger Mixology Challenge. Stirrings makes a delicious line of super premium cocktail mixers that are made with real juice and no preservatives. These mixers taste great, and they make mixology a snap! They provided me with my choice of two mixers and a cocktail rimmer to create a Simply Better Cocktail. I opted to received Stirrings' Watermelon Martini and Mojito cocktail mixers, along with their Lemon Drop Rimmer for garnish. I used both mixers to create my Sparkling Watermelon-Mint Limeade Cocktail. This refreshing cocktail proves a delicious hint of Summer that can enjoyed year-round. A little sweet...and a little tart...this fizzy cocktail is ready to enjoy in about 5 minutes thanks to convenient ready-to-use Stirrings mixers.
Sparkling Watermelon-Mint Limeade Cocktail
a Weekend Gourmet original
Ingredients (for one cocktail):
- Crushed ice
- 2 ounces Stirrings Watermelon Martini mixer
- 2 ounces Stirrings Mojito mixer
- 1.5 ounces vodka
- 3-4 ounces lemon-lime soda (diet or regular)
- 1 small lime
- For garnish: Stirrings Lemon Drop Rimmer and a lime slice
Step 1: Cut the lime in half and set one half aside. Cut one thin slice from the remaining half and reserve for garnish. Moisten the rim of a tall 16-ounce glass with water or lime juice. Press the rim into the container of Stirrings Lemon Drop Rimmer.
Step 2: Fill the glass with crushed ice. Squeeze the juice of the reserved lime half into the glass. Add the vodka and the Stirrings Watermelon Martini and Mojito mixers. Pour enough lemon-lime soda to fill the glass to the top. Stir with a straw to combine all of the ingredients. Just before serving, garnish with the reserved slice of lime.
This refreshing cocktail is sweetly tart, with just enough fizz to make it fun. The Stirrings Watermelon Martini mixer is made with real watermelon juice, so my cocktail was bursting with authentic watermelon flavor. The mint flavor from the Stirrings Mojito mixer provides a subtle hint of mint, but feel free to muddle a bit of fresh mint with the lime juice if you prefer a more pronounced mint flavor. This fun cocktail provides a promise of warm weather to come during Winter months...and you'll definitely want to keep it in your back pocket for Summer BBQs and other events!
