It's Time to Reveal the Next Two Destinations for My A Food Lover's Weekend In... Series!!

We had an amazing time during our travels for my A Food Lover’s Weekend In… travelogue series in New Orleans and Las Vegas last Fall. So much so that we’re going to continue the series in 2013! My passions in life are cooking/food, travel, and good music. These food-centered travelogues are a fabulous way for Michael and I to enjoy all of our favorite activities at once! The basic concept is pretty simple: pick a city that’s known for having a fabulous food scene, then go visit for a long weekend. While you’re there, try some of the best food and drinks that city offers – from casual to upscale. Add in a few fun attractions or music performances to round out the fun between meals. It’s a guaranteed formula for fun…and I love sharing our adventures with all of you!

Austin is the capital of Texas...the Live Music Capital
of the World...and it boasts a lively food scene!
My goal is to do three or four of these sponsored trips per year, and I’m already off to a great start for 2013! First up on our agenda is a city that’s literally “up the road” from us in San Antonio: Austin, in early February. Austin is known as the Live Music Capital of the World…but it also has a vibrant and eclectic food scene that offers everything from Texas BBQ, to an eclectic food truck scene, to upscale fine dining. Our restaurant lineup is just about finalized, and it showcases the entire spectrum of Austin cuisine. We’ll be featuring everything from a quintessential Austin breakfast spot…to casual tacos…a cutting-edge Japanese fusion brunch, and a 28 Zagat rated gourmet restaurant. I can’t wait to share our weekend adventure with you in the coming weeks!

The city that never sleeps...where you can
find whatever you want to eat, no matter
the time of day OR night!
In late April we’ll visit what is -- in my mind -- the ultimate food lover’s city: New York! If you're hungry for it, you can definitely find it here…any cuisine and all price ranges. The hardest part of planning this trip is trying to figure out which restaurants to feature over a four-day weekend! There are so many great places to eat in New York that we could stay for a month (I wish!) and not be able to feature them all. So...I'm having to prioritize. So far, we’re planning to spotlight everything from burgers to artisan pizza…to fine dining and some of the city’s best bakeries and sweet shops. In addition to enjoying some fabulous food, we’ll be spotlighting two very special music performances: Wynton Marsalis and The Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, and a classical performance of the New York Philharmonic. Add in visits to a couple of the city's iconic art museums, and you’ve got yourself a jam-packed weekend of fun waiting for you. I can hardly wait!!

Now, I've got a question for you. I’m always looking for the next city to feature, so what are YOUR favorite cities food-wise…is it Chicago, Portland, San Francisco, or maybe Boston? Tell me why it's a great food destination...and all about your favorite local foods! What cities would you like to see me feature as part of this ongoing A Food Lover’s Weekend In… series?

    1. I'm not sure, Gerry...I'd like to go to the retreat/conference that my #SundaySupper group is having in July. Depends on the budget...I sure did have fun in San Francisco, though!!

  2. What a great idea. I recently stopped by three restaurants featured on the show "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" during our family's drive South over the Christmas holidays.
