Caramel Turtle Mocha Frappe
a Weekend Gourmet Original
Ingredients (one large or two small frappes):
- 1 cup crushed ice
- 1.5 cups chocolate milk
- 1/2 cup strong brewed coffee
- 1/3 cup caramel-flavored coffee syrup
- 1/2 cup caramel topping
- 1/2 tsp. sea salt
- 1/2 cup chocolate syrup
- 1/4 cup chopped pecans
- Whipped cream
Directions:
Step 1: Place the caramel topping in a small microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for approximately 30 seconds. Add the sea salt and stir to completely combine. Set aside until you're ready to assemble the frappe.
Step 2: Add the crushed ice, chocolate milk, coffee, and caramel-flavored coffee syrup to a sturdy blender. Blend until the ice is completely combined into the other ingredients. Pour into one or two glasses. Top with whipped cream and drizzle with the salted caramel and the chocolate syrup. Sprinkle with the chopped pecans and add a straw.
This frappe tastes exactly like a caffeinated caramel turtle candy! The drizzle of salted caramel and chocolate sauce and chopped pecans provide visual appeal and flavor. The balance between chocolate and coffee flavors is perfect for me. If you prefer a more pronounced coffee flavor, simply add a bit more coffee to the mix. Now that I know how easy it is to make my favorite coffee beverage at home, I plan to keep these ingredients on hand all the time...so I can enjoy a frappe anytime the mood strikes!
