Imperfect Foods News...and a Giveaway #imperfectfoods #preventfoodwaste #giveaway

I'm a huge fan of Imperfect Foods! Initially known as Imperfect Produce, the San Francisco-based company was started in 2015 to prevent food waste via subscription boxes of "less than beautiful" fruits and vegetables. This goal is something I can really get behind! Over the past four years, Imperfect Produce has expanded its core offerings to include affordable produce; pantry items; and quality eggs, dairy, and meat items. Items are ordered online, then delivered direct to each customer's front door...easy peasy! In fact, Imperfect Foods prides themselves on saving its customers up to 30% less than grocery store prices. As the following map shows, Imperfect Foods currently primarily offers its services on the West Coast, Midwest, and -- most recently -- along the East Coast!
Imperfect Foods' products are "imperfect" because they may be oddly shaped or smaller than usual...or there may be a surplus inventory. Rather than these items being discarded, they're made available for purchase via Imperfect Foods. Their mission has resulted in some very impressive results! Not only have they reduced food waste...I can vouch that the quality of Imperfect Foods products provided are excellent! Check this out:

Using Imperfect Foods is a snap! Simply sign up for an account. From there, you'll select either a Green (organic) or Regular Box. Customization lets you keep, remove, or switch out your produce selections. Then, round out your order with shelf-stable and chilled grocery items. That's it! A box with your selections is delivered to your front door via a set delivery schedule. Shipping/delivery is a flat rate $4.99...and all perishable items are packed with cold packs to ensure they arrive fresh. The entire process is simple and quick!
Last week, I ordered an Imperfect Foods box that included both organic and conventional seasonal produce, packaged foods like granola...even salmon, pork chops, and ready-to-eat guacamole! The items were a great starting point for the week's dinner recipes and snacks. This was my first time to try Imperfect Foods' newly added fish and meat category...and I was very impressed! My package of salmon included four servings and cost less than $10. Even better? The salmon cooked up perfect and delicious. I used the fresh blueberries in my box to bake a yummy Blueberry Crunch Cake, and the feta and organic grape tomatoes made a delicious salad. As this video shows, the quality of the foods I received was really impressive! The food may be "imperfect" by conventional standards...but the quality is amazing!

So...who wants to try out Imperfect Foods for yourself?!?!? I'm partnering with Imperfect Foods to give one lucky reader of The Weekend Gourmet a $30 credit to build their own customized box of produce and/or grocery items! To take part, you must reside in one of the Imperfect Food cities shown in the map above...to search for your specific zip code, check out their online location finder. Once you determine that Imperfect Foods is available to your home, follow the instructions in the Rafflecoption below.
