In order to maintain potassium at levels necessary to hear healthily, make sure you eat foods rich in potassium. Potatoes are a good source of potassium. However, if you want to eat fewer carbs, then make sure your side salads contain a lot of spinach and tomatoes. For snacking, consider eating bananas and apricots, as well as dried fruit like raisins.

Bonus Benefit: Potassium is a key source of slow-release energy. Potassium levels tend to decrease mid-morning and mid-afternoon, leading to energy crashes and other negative health results.

Zinc is essential for good hearing health due to the part it plays in supporting an effective immune system. Proper zinc levels will do you a lot of good when it comes to fighting chronic infections. Keep your immune system riding high by eating a lot of red meats -- including beef or pork -- and even the “dark meat” on poultry. Vegetarian or vegan? Lentils, nuts, and beans are also great sources of zinc.

Omega-3 is beneficial at any age, but particularly as we get older! Once we get beyond our 20s, this process begins. That means the importance of this beneficial/essential nutrient becomes increasingly important. If you get enough Omega-3 in your diet, you can definitely cut the risk of age-related hearing loss. You can also improve the circuitry in your brain that helps adjust your hearing...and all of the other senses too! Omega-3 is present in foods like salmon and sardines. You can also supplement Omega-3 with oils like flaxseed and soybean, which can be used in dressings and drizzle sauces.
