Miss Going Out? Five Great Recipes to Remind You of Your Favorite Restaurants #quarantinelife #dineoutathome

Most of us have been quarantining at home the past few weeks, during the COVID-19 pandemic. We've been unable to visit our favorite restaurants and bars. At my house, we've used restaurant pick-up and delivery to enjoy some of our favorite restaurants. In some U.S. communities, restaurants are starting to re-open...but not everyone is rushing to dine out. If you're still staying home, The Weekend Gourmet correspondent is sharing five great recipes that replicate some of your restaurant and cocktail cravings at home. Since the COVID-19 pandemic shook the world this Spring, restaurants and cafes across the globe have been forced to shut their doors. We’ve been asked to stay inside our homes. Some say this is an easy task. However, if you're a social butterfly, chances are you're missing the bars and eateries you used to frequent. Around the U.S., some communities are starting to re-open restaurants...but not everyone is choosing to dine out just yet. If you're continuing to quarantine, be sure to check out the following five recipes ideas to make at home -- as a reminder of the good old days!

It’s Not Just Chicken

The first-ever Nando's restaurant opened in 1987 in South Africa. From very humble beginnings, it has grown into a chain with more 1186 restaurants worldwide! It has fast become a favorite place to eat due to its simple concept -- who doesn’t love chicken? Of course, Nando's offer more than chicken on its menu. However, if you're missing the spicy delights of their Africam-spiced chicken, this copycat Nando's peri-peri chicken may be just what you're craving.

A Drive-Thru Dream

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to recreate the pleasing taste of a McDonald's hamburger and fries. While you might not get the exact same taste you're used to from the Golden Arches...you only need a bun, some dill pickles, a little salad, and a hamburger patty to recreate this classic fast food meal! If you want to recreate your favorite fast food experience at home, this UK man may have the answer!

A Taste of Peru

One of the activities many adults are missing these days is sitting in their favorite bar with a group of friends while sipping on a beer or cocktail. While we can’t head out to the local watering hole just yet, we can gather our friends via a video call and make this great pisco sour recipe. Friends and a tasty cocktail...what more do you need for the perfect Friday night?

Missing Italian Food?

If there's one food that is a favorite across the world, it's pizza. Pizza has been around since around 1889, when Italian King Umberto I and Queen Margherita visited Naples and requested this now-famous dish. There are some arguments about who really invented pizza -- Americans often claim the dish is their own. Whatever you believe, pizza is a lovely simple recipe. If you aren’t a whiz in the kitchen, you can find a wide range of ready-to-bake pizzas in the freezer or take away section of most supermarkets!

Get Noodled

One of the most successful restaurants in recent years is Wagamama -- which opened its doors in 1992. The word Wagamama has a few meanings in Japan, but the brand claims it to mean ‘naughty child.’ If you're craving your favourite katsu curry, you can easily replicate this dish at home. All you need is some chicken and crunchy panko breadcrumbs, a simple ready-t0-use katsu sauce, and a small bowl of cooked white rice.

Get creative during quarantine and enjoy eating all the foods that you love! Have fun and get your friends and family involved too. You may soon find that staying has officially became the new going out!
