San Antonio-area McDonald's restaurants are offering customers a simple, fun way to support Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) in Central Texas via its Sleeves for Support campaign. The fundraiser was developed in partnership with The Coca-Cola Company and will help generate funding for RMHC via sales of insulated beverage sleeves, which have been designed to hold 30-ounce cold beverage cups from McDonald’s. These beverage sleeves are currently available for purchase at San Antonio-area McDonald's locations for just $5 each. But? You need to act fast while supplies last! Keep your drink cold in this blazing Texas heat...while you help support your local Ronald McDonald House? Talk about a win-win situation!
Local McDonald's Owner/Operator Maria Acosta says that RMHC provides a wide range of services to families of critically ill children who are receiving medical treatment in Central Texas, “Especially during this global pandemic, families with a child going through a medical crisis carry the additional burden of unexpected medical expenses. Last year, a family with a critically ill child checked into a Ronald McDonald House in San Antonio every 4.5 hours. RMHC saved these families over $2M in lodging and meal expenses by providing 14,524 nights of comfort and support. It is often the case where families arrive for emergency care with only the clothes on their backs. RMHC provides a place of refuge to take a shower, make phone calls, wash clothes, cook meals, watch TV, enjoy privacy, relax, or distract themselves if only for a few hours. For 35 years, with support from McDonald’s, our Houses have prevented families from delaying critical medical treatment for their child or facing the prospect of sleeping in a car or crowded hospital waiting room.”
